2006-04-29 07:13:00 | So exactly how are we a clone? You copied your menu structure from Apple and just changed the colours. :lol: Check out: http://www.swapshop.co.nz/ http://www.apple.com/

Apple.com <!-- START NAV BAR TABLE --> <div id="tabs"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td width="49%" valign="top" background="images.apple.com src="images.apple.com width="1" height="52" alt="" align="right" border="0" ></td> <td width="2%" valign="top" align="center"> <table width="725" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td width="725" valign="top" ><a href="/"><img src="images.apple.com width="118" height="32" alt="Apple" border="0" ></a><a href="/store/"><img src="images.apple.com width="98" height="32" alt="The Apple Store" border="0" ></a><a href="/itunes/"><img src="images.apple.com width="98" height="32" alt="iPod+iTunes" border="0" ></a><a href="www.mac.com src="images.apple.com width="98" height="32" alt=".Mac" border="0" ></a><a href="/quicktime/"><img src="images.apple.com width="98" height="32" alt="QuickTime" border="0" ></a><a href="/support/"><img src="images.apple.com width="98" height="32" alt="Apple Support" border="0" ></a><a href="/macosx/"><img src="images.apple.com width="117" height="32" border="0" alt="Mac OS X"></a></td> </tr> <tr> <td width="725" valign="top" ><img src="images.apple.com width="59" height="20" border="0" alt="" ><a href="/itunes/download/"><img src="images.apple.com width="76" height="20" border="0" alt="Download"></a><a href="/itunes/overview/"><img src="images.apple.com width="112" height="20" border="0" alt="iTunes Overview"></a><a href="phobos.apple.com src="images.apple.com width="126" height="20" border="0" alt="Launch Music Store"></a><a href="/itunes/videos/"><img src="images.apple.com width="81" height="20" border="0" alt="Videos"></a><a href="/ipodshuffle/"><img src="images.apple.com width="88" height="20" border="0" alt="iPod shuffle"></a><a href="/ipodnano/"><img src="images.apple.com width="77" height="20" border="0" alt="iPod nano"></a><a href="/ipod/ipod.html"><img src="images.apple.com width="47" height="20" border="0" alt="iPod"></a><img src="images.apple.com width="59" height="20" border="0" alt="" ></td> </tr> </table> </td> <td width="49%" valign="top" background="images.apple.com src="images.apple.com width="1" height="52" alt="" align="left" border="0" ></td> </tr> </table> </div> <!-- END NAV BAR TABLE --> Swapshop.co.nz <div id="header"> <ul> <li id="current"><a href="www.swapshop.co.nz"><span>Home< <li><a href="classifieds2/"><span>Browse Adverts</span></a></li> <li><a href="classifieds2/picturebrowse.php"><span>Browse Pictures</span></a></li> <li><a href="classifieds2/latestads.php"><span>Latest Ads</span></a></li> <li><a href="classifieds2/mostviewed.php"><span>Tops Ads</span></a></li> <li><a href="classifieds2/fav.php"><span>Favorites</span></a></li> <li><a href="classifieds2/register.php"><span>Register</span></a></li> <li><a href="classifieds2/member.php"><span>Add Ad</span></a></li> </ul> </div> Which part is a copy then? They are totally rendered differently. To be honest I do like Apples site but look at the graphics and you will see they are not the same, Swapshop rendereds the image once and its preloaded, |

2006-04-29 14:10:00 | firmware.orcon.net.nz Like I said, a colour change and a few changes here and there. But that doesn't matter anyway, everyone just copies everyone else when it comes to the web.

2006-04-29 22:25:00 | . orcon . net . nz/images/comparison . jpg" target="_blank">firmware . orcon . net . nz Like I said, a colour change and a few changes here and there . But that doesn't matter anyway, everyone just copies everyone else when it comes to the web . Again it is totally different coding to Apples . So why not pick on some of the other sites mentioned or is it the ones that defend their sites that you enjoy picking on . This whole thread is getting very yesterday . Most of you negative people here have no talent to actually attempt to create a site . This thread started we are a copy of TM and now we are a copy of Apple . Wow our site is being compared to some of the biggest sites . Thank you so much I now know this is a complement . Point, we all drive cars and every car has something similar, Yes? Why is this do you think . Why go against the grain and design a site that is so different that users will need to make a choice, do I learn the new navigation? Or do I already know it? If you understood web design you would get a better understanding of how a site works . The tabbed system is one of the most popular on sites and extremely easy to use . So again what is your point . It isnt a copy of Apple but it is similar to sites on the net for a reason . Site layout unless theres another site somewhere I actually think is orginal . It allows for extremely fast navigation . Second point that you have missed . This board mentions spyware, popups etc . Now stop and think, why would you use a CSS menu system versus a java scripted version? Now days with so many spywares and popups every thing is getting blocked . So from a web site coding point of view you need to be able to get arround these issues . Hence the navigation bar is coded into the page as a CSS and hence no popups, no blocked menu systems . Hopefully this helps you to understand why web dev and coders do this . Do not re invent the wheel when its not broken . Thanks for the question

2006-04-29 22:58:00 | You certainly showed how much better you are by first attacking my site, and then flaming other posters . Pot/Kettle/Black . congratulations . Guys there is no point carry on with this tread if users just start a riot . You site is clean and quick the way it should be . Everyone starts some where . It simply needs adverts and thats the hard part . You create a site and then you need to promote it . Zero budget is always hard unless you get a sponser . Google and other SE's are free sponsers if you code your site their way . I think the comments on your site were OT to be honest . Question is do you want to get bigger or is it just for these forums?
