449452 2006-04-27 02:14:00 Rob - don't complicate things... no database whatsoever is required for what Fergie requires.

The free hosting is a good second option though if budget constraints are really tight.

I'm wanting to make a really basic website that i can sell a few items on .
I don't no hardly anything about webpage design, and on the basics with database, but i don't really have teh time to sit aroudn teaching myself how to create a site .

Hey, what you said Greg is true, but i'm still after a simple way to update it .

So i'm thinking something like a database system here?? .

449454 2006-04-27 05:16:00 hey, thanks guys.
If worst came to worse then i would just do it all in Frontpage, and whenever i wanted to add a new item, add the item in frontpgae and then upload it over the old one.
But this could get messy, and time consuming.

I just thought there must be a way. In fact, i know there is a way, becuase a few years back i done Mysql in skool, and what we done was made a simple webpage that we could go to and enter in data (it was on music cds) so we entered in the name of teh album, artist, isbn number, and uploaded a pic of the cover.
This submited it into the database and then we could do the usual things with a database, like find cds by certain artists etc, all thro a website.
If i could remeber how to do this sorta stuff i would, but i can't! and anyway, its not what i'm really after (that was usefull as you could search stuff etc).

Actually, thinking about it all, it is sorta what i'm after.

Ok, using the database idea, we make a website. And in each website a table is outputed from the data. the page on 'Catergory A' only outputs data from the DB that has 'A' in the catergory form. then you do the same for catergory B etc etc.

And then this way, when i want to add or change a product, i just open up the database (which is online - this is the part i dunno how to do, intergrate it all online) and can change an existing product (by just finding the product in the DB, and changing a certain aspect, ie, if i want to drop teh price to $100, i just change it over in the appropriate field and then when teh database is saved, the website (which is just showing the DB in another way) updates with the new price).
Or if i want to add a new item, i just add a new item in the database.

Or is this just making it to difficult?!

I'm starting to remeber how to do it all and how it worked.

Ok, so new question.
Is it hard to output a Database (such as Mysql or Acess) onto a website?
Even just so i have a website that has a table with like 5 rows.

maybe i am making it too hard... but i'll see what you guys think and go from there
