450973 2006-05-01 02:20:00 Hi all,

I recently did a fresh install of XP SP2 on my Acer Extensa laptop, using the recovery CDs supplied with my laptop, but I'm having a bit of trouble with one of the utilities.

It's called "Acer ePower Manager", and it deals with the power management side of things. It replaces the standard windows options in Display/Screen Saver/Power, and it also gives a task bar icon. It allows one to adjust things such as the screen brightness and the CPU level to save power. Unfortunately, it wasn't installed with the rest of the utilities, and the setup file I found on the web doesn't work. It gives me the following error message:

An error (-5006 : 0x80070002) has occured while running the setup.

Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor.

Error Code: -5006 : 0x80070002
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1281)
pAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:
$7.1.100.1248PAK
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 0.64

Anyone have any idea what I can do to install it?

Cheers,

roddy

450978 2006-05-04 12:11:00 Did you download the program from an Acer site??

If so, did you try sending an email to Acer, to see if they know why it wont install?

The file you downloaded maybe corupted.

And which Extensa have u got?

There's 11 to choose from.
