450186 2006-04-28 04:49:00 I havn't installed Thunderbird for a long time, but when I did it on windows, I just unzipped it, and ran the exe. It wasn't an installer, but the actual program. Maybe it is something like that in linux? mejobloggs (264)
450187 2006-04-28 04:55:00 Have a look at the files you have. Any with names like README, or (especially) INSTALL will be worth reading. ;) (They will be plain text files). If theres a file called Makefile, [b]make install[/b[ might do the deed. Graham L (2)

Am running Xandros here and I installed Thunderbird 1.5 from the magazine disk. No problems - when I extracted all, it seemed to have included three binaries - mozilla-installer.bin, thunderbird-bin, and thunderbird.

I saved it to a directory that I called /home/jim/thunderbird.

In Menu Editor (I can't remember what is used in Mandrake although I used to use Mandrake 10), I instructed the item to point to /home/jim/thunderbird/thunderbird.

It works fine, has picked up my address book and mail from Tbird 1.07 and causes me no stress.

The location of the program in /home/jim/ is not that usual. However, I run Mailwasher and, unless I put Tbird in its current directory, Mailwasher couldn't find it when called for.

Hope this makes sense to you.
