450120 2006-04-27 22:04:00 (sorry, couldn't think of an appropriate title)... XP Home SP1, XP Home SP2, XP Pro SP1, XP Pro SP2. Is there any possible reason why any one of the above running on an identical perfectly working system should have problems reading some CDROMs, while the others have no problem?

Thanks.

450126 2006-04-27 22:30:00 Is this the same computer with 4 variations of software or a group of PCs?
I was once in an area that took delivery of 25 supposedly identical IBM pcs. After finding problems it turned out that there were 3 variations in hardware in that group even though all delivered at same time.
What type of CD, is there likely to be a Copyright control issue?

450127 2006-04-27 23:29:00 I'm with PaulD, really need to know more about the system .

Is it
* four boot partitions on one drive, two drives, . . .
* four images, and re-imaging the same drive?
* drive cage (cold-swapped hard drives)?

Type of drives?
SATA in the mix?
More than one CD?

450128 2006-04-27 23:41:00 identical perfectly working system They can't be identically perfect working systems .. one has an issue. Besides that, any tech knows that just because you have 4 identical machines with the same hardware, doesn't mean they will all install windows and operate the exact same way. It's impossible, even if you were using the same O/S on all.

Therefore, you know what you can do with your . :)
