You'd think all the submitters spoke English as a second language! They call it informal English. Mostly used because people don't want to write novels when trying to outline their technical problem and those replying don't have all day in carefully constructing essays. Not just syntactically; spelling variable names correctly is not optional (except in BASIC or most FORTRANs, which just helpfully create extra "used-once variables" for compiler, and wrong results at runtime). Job control cards also had to be exactly right, too. ;) ...They call it informal English. Mostly used because people don't want to write novels ... Nobody wants novels. What's needed is precision in defining a problem. The logical thought needed to do that can often cause the answer to become obvious. ;) |
