450189 2006-04-28 05:45:00 I have a Dlink DI-524 wireless router & I can't get it working with my woosh modem.

How do I set it up so that I can share my woosh connection through my router?

450190 2006-04-28 05:50:00 Try the info here (www.dlink.com.au) Speedy Gonzales (78)
450191 2006-04-28 06:33:00 Not the answer you want but it would be a lot easier to use an ADSL router such as the Dlink DSL-G604T.

However, if I assume that the woosh modem is connect to a USB port and the DI-524 to either a wireless card or the ethernet port then what you need to do is setup Inernet connection sharing and make sure the dhcp server is issuing the ethernet/wireless IP address of the machine witht the modem connected as the default gateway.

OK - second part may take some explaining so shout if you need more information.

450192 2006-04-28 06:56:00 I just tried to set it up for him. He has the woosh phone thing & is using ethernet rather than USB. I don't know if he even has a USB cable for it.

The router autodetects the connection, but it doesn't work. I tried setting it up manually to use a PPPOE connection & put in his username & password, but it kept saying disconnected. When I clicked the connect button, it didn't give an error message - it just refreshed the page & showed that it was still disconnected.

450193 2006-04-29 04:10:00 The Woosh phone thing probably won't like more than one computer being attached. That might be the problem. The Woosh site was very clear about one "Woosh phone line" being for one computer when I looked at it. Graham L (2)
450194 2006-04-29 06:39:00 I'm sharing a Woosh connection with 9 people at the moment. Works fine - broadband router set up to use PPPoE, with my username and password. Note that the username is username@woosh.co.nz rather than just username on it's own. somebody (208)

I put @woosh.co.nz after the username. Are you using the woosh phone, or just the internet?

450196 2006-04-29 07:09:00 Just internet.

I have noticed though that the amount of time it takes to connect varies quite a bit. I'd suggest try setting it up on a PC (ie. use PPPoE through the network port), and see if it works.

450197 2006-04-29 07:27:00 What you want is a real router, ie not DLink (everything they make is unreliable junk). Try the WRT54GS, works with Woosh nicely and goes for months without a reboot unlike the DLinks which need one a day.

Oh and with routers there is a special setting you need to set, something about the packet size. Ring up support I think its some thing like MTU.

450198 2006-04-29 07:36:00 MTU needs to be set to 1492 (which is probably default anyway). somebody (208)
