| 451517 | 2006-05-02 19:22:00 | Hi I have a problem with connecting my laptop wirelessly to my router(network). Basically when I do a search for available networks in windows XP it comes up with alot of networks apart from my one. I can connect via ethernet cable but not Wirelessly, the other thing is I have three other computers that can see and connect to my network wirelessly. I have looked in the router settings and the laptop I want to connect with has been allowed full internet access, also the show SSID option has been activated. This has really confused me as I have no idea why I cannot see the network as the router settings seem fine and I can see other wireless networks so I know my laptop is searching properly. Any help would be really appreciated guys : :illogical . Thanks Lee |

| 451519 | 2006-05-03 02:41:00 | Try changing the Channel it uses, if there ar a lot of other wireless networks in the area, then maybe some of them are using the same channel as your one is set to. Does anyone know of software that will tell you the channels the other Wireless LAN's the you can see are set to? |

Dunno if XP SP2's wireless wizard lets u see what channel other people are on. I dont use it. The WLANS I brought, came with their own software, which shows what channels other people are on. And it shows u whether they've got an encrypted network or not. You can even join the other person's network (if u can  ) You dont have to broadcast the SSID. Just as long as they're the same on all WLANS, it should work. (If there's an AP somewhere). It could be firewall settings, if you've got a separate software-based firewall installed. |

I reset the router to the default settings and it now works perfectly fine the same as the other wireless devices connected . I think it may have been the channel as it was on 12 and it is now on 6 Thanks again Lee |
