| 451228 | 2006-05-02 01:16:00 | I am subscribed to Ihug's 2mbit plan. I am located in Hamilton East. Ever since the rollout of the new 3.5mbit plans (I Have not upgraded from 2mbit) our speeds have been consistently rubbish. At a good point I might get 400kbit. Last night I did a speed test and got 23kbit - the night before I was getting 63kbit. I am fed up and furious that I pay $70/month for service that is less than dial up! My ping to the ISP has even been over 1100ms, and pings to google.co.nz are in the 1600ms+ bracket. There is nothing wrong with my hardware, it affects all the flatmates. My PC and laptop worked fine at my parent's place with fiber optic (awesome 2ms pings!) I have wrote an email to Ihug, David Cunliffe, and the COmmerce Commission (ComCom). The last email was the one I sent to ComCom re: false advertising. I am doing my speed tests at www.nzdsl.co.nz where they list a whole screed of critical news reports about DSL on the main page at the moment. I ask the PressF1 forums: What can I honestly do other than what I have? I am getting seriously ripped off here, $70 a month is alot of money for students when you are getting no service! |

| 451230 | 2006-05-02 03:09:00 | You can't do anything. One advantage of me getting rubbish speed with Xtra is I can get them to keep refunding me every month. I doubt Ihug will cause they'll just blame Telecom (rightly). You can keep hassling Telecom I suppose. Eventually they will do something. I can't see them upgrading all the affected exchanges though and their other idea was to dump people back to a lower speed plan. I can see that working if they put everyone back how they were before, but not if its just a few people. Or we could emigrate. |

| 451231 | 2006-05-02 03:42:00 | This is kind of off the topic but not :p Has everyone gotten the speed increase? I have not... :annoyed: but it all it will do is let me blow the cap faster so it is really not a big deal for me :D anyway to help :) just keep on Telecoms back, after masses of complaints they should review and look at doing something :) (maybe I should call them... *goes and calls telecom when gets home...*) |

| 451233 | 2006-05-02 04:06:00 | Well I was having the same trouble, though nowhere near as bad as you, but numerous e-mails and phone calls to IHug fixed it. I asked to be put on 3.5. This was done within 24 hours. Then they got telecom to plug me in again (or something simliar). Myspeed jumped to about 3.2 and it's been fluctating around that mark for the past week or so. | JJJJJ (528) | ||
