451188 2006-05-10 03:29:00 There is a new free service available including a plug-in for Mailwasher at http://www.bluesecurity.com/
Using it now for several weeks and spam is coming down. Not much point in bouncing in my opinion, nor do I think simply filtering the spam is the solution. Blue Frog actually gives you the satisfaction of actually hearting the spammer.

451189 2006-05-10 22:41:00 As one of the innocent victims who get these bounce messages I would like to add my side of the story. I own around 30 domains which regularly get spoofed. Every day I get around 2,000 or more bounce messages from people like Greg who think it's their right to bounce spam messages and don't care who gets them. For me, people like Greg are a much bigger problem than the spammers themselves.

Please don't bounce spam. The spammers will never get the bounces, innocent hard-working people like me suffer your consequences instead.

451190 2006-05-10 23:53:00 I always bounce spam, using Mailwasher. It's no skin off my nose whether the email networks get a bit more congestion - it's a miniscule fraction of what the spammer's doing. And if congestion get too much, well maybe ISP's will start thinking a bit more seriously about dealing with the problem.

Wow, way to post a completely ignorant statement. :illogical

What about the poor person that is receiving all your bounces because some looser spammer choose their domain/address to forge.

What about the provider who has their system congested by your bounces, bouncing...clogging their mail queue. Not all mail providers are giant ISP's many people and businesses run their own mail servers.

Dont bounce spam, just delete it or choose a provider that allows you to reject it (i.e. doesn’t get delivered doesn't get bounced).

451192 2006-05-11 00:43:00 Ask someone who gives a stuff. Half the reason I enjoy bouncing emails is to annoy people like you :D

As I have said before.
Nice mature attitude Greg.
Shows great insight into the spam problem.

If you had said "Hey I never thought about that - sorry, I'll stop being part of the spam problem immediately", you would have won my respect.

Instead you have decided to willingly continue inflicting massive amounts of spam on innocent people for absolutely no reason. There is no conceivable advantage to what you are doing. The only effect is to hurt innocent people who have nothing to do with spamming.

It is my sincerest hope that you will one day get spoofed and learn what it means to be the victim of people like yourself.

It's extremely unusual for me to flame people. I am usually the voice of reason and I avoid getting dragged into insult battles, but today I make an exception for an exceptionally objectionable person: Greg, what a jerk you have shown yourself to be. What an absolute a***hole.

451194 2006-05-11 02:34:00 Bouncing spam is definitely a completely waste of time. I though by now everyone would know that the return addresses are spoofed – in fact you are helping the spammer to spread his message.
Here is an interesting read from the Blue Security community. Spammers are starting to panic and fighting back. It’s a long read but worth the time and very amusing.
