451169 2006-05-02 18:29:00 What plan and provider gets you those speeds? My ihug 2 MB ony gets me arround 1000 kbs most of the time.

IHug. 3.5 plan

Why don't you contact IHug and ask them to put you on 3.5 ?

Seems everyone will be transferred to 3.5 , but thse things take time and those who muke the most fuss will be at the top of the queue

451172 2006-05-03 22:31:00 i did some coding the other day and have created a speed test on my site for anybody to take should you wish to , it will give you your speed as well as add the results to the database which makes some intresting reading , one guy managed a 208 mbps test last night , (wish i had those sorts of speeds) , so if ya wanna take a test or just see what sort of speeds all the other hosts are giving there users on average feel free to have a look.

451173 2006-05-03 22:53:00 Wel I just took your speed test presso (about 15 times) and I didn't go over 985kbps once!!!!! :yuck:

It would appear once again that Telecom is and has always been giving the NZ public the big middle finger!!!

Good job!!! Telecom you SUCK BIG BLACK ONES, you leeching corporate vampires!!!

Might ring my ISP and see if I can do anything about it.

cheers

451175 2006-05-04 21:39:00 Well, I took the test and recorded 5.84Mbps, which is getting close to the upper limit for Jetstream as we currently know it.

Some of those claimed speeds sound a bit off the wall though, even for cable. A top speed of 256Mbps seems too fast to be true. Can US subscribers really get those download speeds? That sounds like optical fibre network stuff to me.

If they can get 256Mpps then even "Telecom Unbundled" will be struggling to catch up.

Cheers

PS What plan are you on Jack? You seem to get very good speeds and got close to 6Mbps on one test which is &*%@#$% fast. That suggests that there are no limits on your download speed other than contention ratio and traffic.
