451397 2006-05-02 08:59:00 Ok downloaded jukebox . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . two days of trying this on dial up . . . .

nearly gave up, and now its ??? doing or i should say not doing what was expected . . .

managed to import all existing music from WMP . . . . . . .

But find when jukebox is running and playing music . . . . . . . . . . . . that sometimes mouse doesnt work, is this a resource hog and cannot run lots of things at same time? i thought Win Media Player was bad enuf . . . . . . . . . . . but the lag on this is amazing . .

Peach is all good other wise, apart from a real slow dial up isp . . . . . . . . . . . . doing a defrag, and still have 73 % space left . . . . . . . . . and apparently only have 3 . 5 MB of music on jukebox . . . . . . . . . . . . . . sisnt realise i had so much . . . . . . .

is this likely to be a major or is a early operator glitch? This also means on maximising the screen / page it becomes a multitude of pages ive veiwed . . . .

so hogging the system or something else?

i like this media player but if it causes to many hiccuphs its history . . . . . .

451400 2006-05-02 14:48:00 Are you talking about "Musicmatch" Jukebox?
Or, some other form of a Jukebox?
If the former. I had serious trouble with the latest
version & re-installed my old version (8.2) (easier to use as well)
Running 98SE BTW.
It's a damn good App. Just make sure that you don't associate it with ANYTHING! (in the configuration settings)

I assume you are talking about MusicMatch JukeBox. It is verry happily cohabiting with Windows Media Player on my XP Home system. I am running MMJB 7.5 right now along with 10 other programs - not counting the ones that run in the background - and I have 6.61 GB of MP3s!

I have never had a problem associated with MMJB, but your description suggests that something is using a lot of system resources. It could be that the version you downloaded is new and has an "issue" that needs fixing. Just incase though, I would review the MMJB 'Options" to make sure that it isn't doing something; like for instance searching your drives (or the internet) for new music every time the program starts. :)

PS. How much free RAM do you have with MMJB running?

451402 2006-05-03 04:54:00 Yes Music match jukebox.................a friend has it on his comp i liked using it and thought ill get it, mine seems to be a diff version to his, harder to use........ i cant seem to add a folder / playlist ? like i did in WMP....maybe read instruction will help.

How can i tell how much ram? etc?
How do i change it from check for music / updates each time then?
Also personal labelled items - playlists in WMP havent been moved - imported.... ???

Open and start a song ...........goes fine, add more songs to play list fine...... go to close list or scroll down list and freezes?
Since i have 70% space free on my drive im presuming i should be all ok for running it....

but its like its busy?

Oh and what do you mean configure it with anything?

451403 2006-05-03 06:07:00 Ok tried to get a file to open with Jukebox . . . . . . . . always use this prog etc type thing . . .

Big mistake . Now it freezes or crashes . . . . . . . on startup . . . :(

May have to uninstall and reinstall . . . . which means downlaoading . . . . . . sigh, i think i might be happier with a older version . . . . as this is 10?

and doesnt seem to be as easy to use as friends . . . . . . .

it cannot import a made playlist ive named . . . . it cant even see it . . . . . . while win media plays it just great . . . lol

not sure why i bothered to download it now . . . . . . i always end up in strife with any program i have installed . . .

451404 2006-05-03 06:51:00 I think this is a prime case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" :p
Just stick with WMP if your happy with that :)

451405 2006-05-03 14:49:00 Oh and what do you mean configure it with anything?
beetle [/QUOTE]

What I mean :- (1) Open MMJB>Options>Settings>General (Use MMJB as the default player for) :- Don't tick anything!
(2) When reclaiming media files :- choose 'Never reclaim media files'
I don't recommend ticking anything else on that page (MMJB likes to take over your system) Ala. RealPlayer !
(To 'add' stuff you can do manually anyway.
There's probably a forum somewhere to explain the setting up of the system better than my feeble attempt. Find it!
Try a site called "Old Version" to get an earlier version (Your friends perhaps!)
Save your D/L to a folder ...Install app. from that folder. Great for backups!
Hope this helped.
Regards.

First, When downloading software, get the executable installer and keep it. I have a folder I call "EXE Files" for this. It saves a lot of bother when an installation fails, or the programs files get corrupted, you just rerun it.

Second, If your friend has the installer, MusicMatch(version no.).exe, then get him to put it on CD for you; saving the looong download again. If your friend hasn't got it send me your adderss and I will send MMJB 7.5 to you.

You can find out how much free RAM you have by Ctrl Alt Delete and selecting the Performance tab. It takes a fair bit to play music, especially at a high bitrate.

You say that you can't add a folder etc. like in WMP. MMJB will work with any folder(s) that you nominate. You can create whatever music folders you like in Windows Explorer, then ask MMJB to check them for new music. New folders will be created in MMJBs Music Library for each new artist it finds. The locations of music files is not changed only identified, so you will not see any change in WMP.

Several of your questions will be answered by clicking on Options, Music Library... such as "Find New Music", "Watch Folders", "Import" etc. Use "Search And Add Tracks From All Drives", it will add all sorts of sound files (non music) to your library, which you will then have to delete.

I have gone on long enough for now. Let me know if there is anything else. Vince :)
