451331 2006-05-02 02:53:00 I have got a PC and a laptop running windows XP. I have Xtra broadand installed and running. I have just bought a wireless router and wireless card for the laptop. I am planning on plugging the PC directly into the LAN router port via Cat5 and connect the laptop to the router wirelessly. I have got the wireless netork set-up OK and the laptop can see the the router but from here im a little bit stuck. Does Xtra support PPPoE and if it does, does this mean all i have to do is enter my username and password into the router WAN settings?. Or do i have to configure the router to PPPoA and enter the IP adress, DNS address and Gateway address? On the LAN side of things do i have to enable DHCP and the go to TCP/IP settings in windows and ensure obtain IP and DNS automatically is selected??
If i do have to enter the addresses manually does anyone know what they are?
The router does not have a modem, i am going to use the existing d-ling 302G

Im a little confused, hopefully ythis makes some sense! The router (cant remeber the model) didn't have too much info!

Thanks

451332 2006-05-02 03:01:00 What is this wireless device full name and model number please.

You shouldnt have to set the pppoa in this wireless router if using DHCP, just plug the modem(302) into one of the ports-not the wan port, set it up as an access-point and you should be away.

451333 2006-05-02 03:15:00 Sorry, dont know what the name/model of the wireless router is, eek!!

I thought that the adsl modem plugged straight into the WAN port (there is 1 wan port a 4 x LAN ports).
The wireless router does have a web based interface allowing config. for the LAN and WAN. I have not changed any settings on the DLink modem

451334 2006-05-02 03:23:00 Xtra is PPPoA with VPi/VCI of 0/100, just put in your users account as username.xadsl@xtra.co.nz & password

Edit - sorry disregard my post, didnt read entirely
Edit 2, what does the manual say, i believe the modem should be connected to the WAN port
