The most amazing thing was noone wanted to speak with me. Was I too scruffy? did they think I mite have asked questions instead of compliant nodding like most other customers seem to do when confronted with the "all knowing" experts on everything from fridges to plasma screens?
Isn't it amazing how the sale of a transistor radio or a pack of 10 blank CD's take preference of a computer system.
Well they can stick their shops up their bottoms LOL.

ANYWAY! Can some kind soul here advise me the difference between Celeron and Pentium? Is Celeron to be avoided? :dogeye:

451827 2006-05-06 07:24:00 Info on Celeron here (en.wikipedia.org)

Its similar but the cheaper alternative to the P4's (en.wikipedia.org)

This is a signature. No need to do the following, unless you're having problems, with your system / spyware etc.

451828 2006-05-06 07:25:00 i'm not sure how the current celerons stack up, i've always avoided them. for a budget cpu AMD's duron and semprons are much better bang for $$$.

if you are going to go INTEL then get the pentium. personally i would go AMD athlon64 ;)

451829 2006-05-06 07:42:00 P4- Expensive under-performing CPU

Celeron-Crippled version of the P4, not even capable of reaching the lofty heights of underperforming, Can be sourced for next to nothing, which is slightly more then what they are worth.

What amazing luck! Now you can go to a real computer shop and buy a real computer with quality parts in it and a real warranty and no calls to india required.
