| 453184 | 2006-05-08 06:27:00 | Hi I recently sighen up with Slingshot for dial up internet that included a web accelerator. Initially the web accelerator wouldn't work but the slingshot help desk suggested I go into connection settings (I'm using Firefox browser) and change "Configure proxies to access the Internet" from 'Direct connection to the internet' to 'Manual Proxy Configuration' and typed in 127.0.0.1 for HTTP Proxy and port 5400. This worked and the web accelerator started working well, speeding thinks up about 5 fold. Unfortunately now I'm having problems accessing my hotmail account. I can log in OK to the "Today" window but generally (not every time) when I try to get into "Mail" to read my e-mails the damn thing goes back to the box asking me to verify my password. This can happen several times but sometimes I can get in straight away with no problems. Slingshot help desk responded with "The accerator probably doesn't work with Firefox / hotmail combination" and were no help. Should I being putting hotmail into the "No Proxy for" field? Currently it's got "localhost, 127.0.0.1" Apologies for this lengthly post. Any ideas to fix appreciated. cheers Tim PS I selected the 'Direct connection to the internet' option under "Configure proxies to access the Internet" again and hotmail works normally. :groan: |
