453216 2006-05-08 10:25:00 If you get to the point where you know it is not the memory just as a suggestion, do you have an old EIDE drive around? if so try installing it with a fresh install of XP and see. Before you remind me that you have tested your drives, i will mention that the specs of your machine are similar to mine (GA-K8N Pro SLI) and I had a drive that tested OK (seagate SATA2) but every now and then would have a write error, a pain to find but after replacing just about everything I replaced the drive and great for 6 months now kwaka (10149)
453217 2006-05-08 10:30:00 i have one available yes Tux (606)
453218 2006-05-08 10:39:00 If you havent checked the ram yet then do so before swapping the mobo.

http://www.memtest86.com/ though I think you already know about that app.

If your memory reports no faults then my money is on the Mobo being faulty, Its very rare for a CPU to go bung within the first couple of years, and when they do they either heat up and lock (in which case pull the side off the case, blast the inside with a house fan),......or they just die, as in dead,no life. i ran memtest, came up with no errors, is my issue quite common for motherboards? could it be the graphics card also?

453220 2006-05-08 10:53:00 You video card?

Did you already try another and the problem still happened?

I would do a quick test for heat, then swap out the mobo.

Once you have tested everything else and it all passes, theres only the mobo left. And by the look of it, you have tried everything else Myth (110)
453224 2006-05-08 12:33:00 You have 2 sticks of identical RAM, Gigabyte boards are fussy what slots you use when using 2, change to the other channel (3 & 4 i think) , my board was the same and has the same chipset SolMiester (139)
