453205 2006-05-08 09:31:00 ok. my computer was on the blink. kept freezing and what not.
its an

athlon 64 3000+
Gigabyte GA k8ns motherboard
2x512mb ddr400 pc3200
Radeon 9600xt 128mb
2x80gb SATA Drives.

it kept on freezing, i did a fresh install, kept doing it, so i ran memtest86, no errors, i ran data lifeguard 11 on both drives (western digital's diagnostic software) and i did a deep scan, took about an hour on each, no errors. i replaced the psu and case (it was cheaper to do that as the company was doing an end of line sale deal, a thermaltake soprano with a 430w purepower psu) and its still doing it. i swapped my dads nvidia geforce 2 mx440 over and did a completely fresh install and it still does it. im at my wits end. i need my pc back, but i cant afford to replace every single part. i have a new motherboard here thats identical to mine, but i dont want to open it incase i have to return it because the motherboard is not at fault. help please!!

453206 2006-05-08 09:41:00 Did u install ALL of the drivers including the mobo drivers??

And there's nothing in device manager showing any ?'s? or other?

453207 2006-05-08 09:42:00 when i say complete install, i mean complete. nothing in the device manager, complete install means a format with fdisk and start a fresh. Tux (606)
453208 2006-05-08 09:45:00 Touchy touchy!

453209 2006-05-08 09:49:00 no not at all, its just people who try and help by asking me to post a hijack this log from a freshly installed pc, its not software, its hardware, figuring out what part is the hardest part though Tux (606)
453210 2006-05-08 09:54:00 Think you two are mis-interpreting each others comments/sigs ...

Anyway, from what you have done so far, it does sound like checking out the motherboard/CPU is the next logical step. :)

453211 2006-05-08 10:04:00 Read my signature . It says if u HAVE probs .

It doesnt SAY you have to download it . If you haven't got a prob .

Its in my signature, not my reply to your first post .

I would say its either the mobo, or you haven't connected something up properly .

Like how often does it freeze? Every 10-20 mins?

Soon after you boot into XP?

When you play games? Or when you're doing anything?

Look in Event Manager (control panel / admin tools) .

See what its say there . Under application, or system (on the left-hand side) .

I take it, you're using XP? or are you using the 64 bit version of Windows?

Is it up to date with updates?

453213 2006-05-08 10:11:00 Try with only 1 memory stick in and if its still hanging only the other - I've found that sometimes running memory check programs doesn't spot a duff stick. gcarmich (10068)
453214 2006-05-08 10:13:00 i think i will try that, one stick, but then again its pick and miss whether is hangs or not, at the moment its been running for an hour with no errors, but before that i had to turn it off because it hung Tux (606)
