2006-05-07 01:38:00 | Hi, I am using Telecom's 1 month trial offer of Broadband, with refunds etc, if not happy. Fine, I had to wait for 10 days because of the frantic rush, xtra got after this offer became public-- I installed the CD as required and instantly got 100Mb /s as against 42.5 kb/s on dial up- marvellous. Then xtra suggested I could get more if I ran an ADSL cable back to the main phone instead of through extensions- they may be right but--- from the maths I ran 100Mb/s as against 42.5 Kb/s is about 40 times - which, seeing they stated that the 50 X could vary - I would think I am doing very well even with these so called bad extension cables Would somebody run the maths to see if in fact I am getting X40-- if so that is far faster than I would need - for this I pay $39.95 with a 1gb cap. effie c

2006-05-07 01:44:00 | Sounds like that 100mbit is the speed of your ethernet to modem, not the adsl itself. ;) | jermsie (6820) | |
2006-05-07 01:58:00 | This morning i was getting 3.1mbps per second through xtras broadband plan and now im only getting 64kbps download speed, can sombody please tell me why that is its meant to be broadband not dial up, and no i havent exceeded my monthly usage as i only joined up on friday on the 5gb plan. | Hitech (9024) | |
2006-05-07 02:12:00 | Hi Jermsie, If your comment is correct how do I find out the true BB speed? I accept that speeds will vary according to usuage but there has also been a vast improvemnt in downloads either way effie c

2006-05-07 02:58:00 | www.jetstreamgames.co.nz/speed Select the 500kb test. that will tell you what you are downloading at - it may vary some due to the problems a lot of people are having with speed lately. Go into your router and look for the statistic page to tell you what your plan is/what your line is capable of. For instance while my router reports 4288 (on a 3.5Mbps plan) I am averaging 544kps on downloads. It varies from 299 to 1098 which was the best yet.

2006-05-07 10:46:00 | I must be on the winning end of things then as I am on Telstras 3.5mb plan and constantly connect at 4.1Mbps indicated in the system tray, I got these results from xtras 500kb speed test * Download time: 1.234 seconds * Size of file: 520 Kilobytes * Estimated line speed: 3438.6 (kilobits/second) * Estimated line speed: 421.4 (kilobytes/second) Broadband rocks Mik

2006-05-07 22:37:00 | Hi, :) Thanks to several connections on F1 and one using msn, I have found my speed is in fact 50 X dial up ( of 41.6 average--sometimes 48 kps but never more)- and this morning it, BB, is even faster than yesterday- xtra have been very helpful, negating the negativity comments of some F1 members, I did a Google and came up with the following address for testing --tcpIQ Line Speed Meter v 3 Beta build 1052,- now installed,-- though after the euphoria from good results obtained, I probably will not need the program and may delete it, ere long. effie c
