453642 2006-05-10 05:12:00 We looked at wireless hacking in the March issue of PC World ("Stealing Your Neighbours Net", p.77), now TV One News are looking at doing a story on it.

Have you
had your connection "borrowed"?
noticed freeloaders using it?
noticed anomalies in your traffic charges?
suffered any consequences from others freeloading off your connection?

Contact Olivia Kember (olivia.kember@tvnz.co.nz ) with details.

453644 2006-05-10 05:18:00 I think you investigated this a few years ago?

It's great to bring it to public attention again, because as I understand it there's a lot of ignorance about wireless networking, particularly in the home environment.

453645 2006-05-10 05:21:00 My trouble is that there aren't any neighbours with high speed and WiFi I can do it to. ;) Graham L (2)

453651 2006-05-10 07:59:00 I used to have my wireless wide open when I had unlimited net, and I never noticed anyone ever using it. I've now got a cap, so I've locked it down just in case.

I don't bother with encryption. I just use a MAC address whitelist. I doubt my wireless traffic would be that interesting to snoop on.
