| 453566 | 2006-05-09 22:41:00 | Over the past two days I have tried twice to download a 470 mb file. No troubles downloading. But the files will not install! I get message "CRC checking failed" I have also downloaded a 100 mb. file three times. Again no problem with download , but also will not install. Message: Extracting to "C:\Documents and Settings\Jack Gruschow\Local Settings\Temp\wzce3f\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: yes Extracting VOZINSTALLER110.exe Error: invalid compressed data to inflate I have also tried three separate versions of winzip 10. I have downloaded both these files before on to my old computer and they have unzipped and installed correctly. Can there be anything in my computer that could cause this problem? |

You could try WinRar to extract them but if the file is corrupt WinRar won't be any better than WinZip. If you have previously downloaded and successfully installed the file have you not still got a copy saved on your hard drive? If you have just use that. What about much smaller downloaded files, do they install correctly? |

A BBC reporter reported an unpatched Windows PC connected to the Internet without protection infected in eight seconds. If you're going to turn off all firewalls temporarily, at least get a good verified backup of important files beforehand, update your anti-virus / spyware software beforehand, and scan for nasties afterwards. |

| 453570 | 2006-05-09 23:14:00 | Yes u need a firewall, but this firewall is part of the system. Which can corrupt files. You have to turn the NV firewall off for good. Or configure it properly. As Jack found out, if its on it can and will corrupt files. Use another software / hardware based firewall. |

| 453572 | 2006-05-10 03:16:00 | Try this Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/). It is the best out there and spyware free. I tried it and got the same result. "Not a valid zip file". I know it is and 50,000 people have downloaded in past six weeks. |

| 453574 | 2006-05-10 04:17:00 | For the 3rd time, is the NV firewall on or off. If its enabled, kill it / disable it. Sorry. I overlooked your question. NV firewall is off. I even turned window's firewall off for last try. Tried another zipped file that I had succesfully downloaded and installed on the old box. It said something about corrupt files. I'm convinced that there's something on my comp. that's causing the trouble, but I haven't a clue what it is. Or how it's doing it. Just ran another virus check. Nothing there. |

Are you sure the NVidia Access Manager is uninstalled?, as that is the prime canidate for corrupted downloads? |
