| 453454 | 2006-05-10 10:22:00 | I have a Compaq from the same sort of era, had two 256mb chips in it (ddr 222) & I have ditched them and put in two 512mb chips of ddr 400 & they work great. | 453456 | 2006-05-10 11:42:00 | OK guys an update, I got another computer that runs at 333, it is an ASUS mobo spec'd as this. It currently has 2 x 256m DDR single sided RAM. I took these two sticks out and replaced them with the one double sided 512 DDR 333 and i got the same prob. PC starts to boot and then jumps to the Safe mode + other options menu. Is there any reason double sided RAM doesn't work at the above spec and single sided does?? Im pretty sure that the stick is faulty. ALso What is the going price for 512 333 DDR RAM. I paid $115 for it and i thought that was OK?? cheers |

| 453457 | 2006-05-11 04:29:00 | Thanks to all the comments . I took the RAM back to the shop today to claim it was faulty . They said OK we will try it first, so they stuck it in a PC and low and behold it booted up fine GRRR . They DID exchange it for another stick of identical RAM . Took that home, stuck it in and hey presto it worked fine !!! . Panic over, cheers |
