454027 2006-05-11 02:39:00 If i had a wireless adsl modem/router connected to my PC via ethernet, and my PC was turned off but the power switch at the wall is still turned on, can a person using a laptop still use the internet using a wireless card via the wireless adsl modem/router? lance4k (4644)
454028 2006-05-11 02:49:00 If the wireless ADSL modem/router is still turned on, it won't matter whether the PC is on or off, plugged in, or even present. ;) The ADSL modem is the "server" and the PC and the laptop are independent clients to it, connecting through the router.

(However, if you had an ADSL modem connected (directly or through a router) to the desktop PC, and it was providing a wireless connection using Internet Connection Sharing to the laptop, the PC would be the "server" and would have to be turned on.)

454030 2006-05-11 03:12:00 Not quite. They are two independent devices, with totally different functions. Yours happen to be built into the same box. :D Graham L (2)
