453855 2006-05-10 11:10:00 Hi All

I want to move my full operating system (including programs etc) to a new (smaller) hard drive -- i plan to install the larger hard drive into my file server and replace a small one that is in it at the moment.

The amount of data on the larger drive is only 10GB the drive is 60GB.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

453856 2006-05-10 11:17:00 provided the neewdrive isn't a different connection ie sata then a simple ghost over should do it. hardrive manafactures often have free tools to do it with. tweak'e (69)
453857 2006-05-10 19:40:00 Acronis True Image (www.acronis.com) will do the job. Better, easier to use than Norton Ghost.

There is a freebie drive image program - cannot recall the name but do a Google search or PF1 search for my post on this - actually not a freebie but you can use it for 30 days.

453860 2006-05-11 05:43:00 I use Maxblast, free from Maxtor. Will clone as long as one hdd is a Maxtor. I have only used it for cloning up to 10mb hdds but I find it very reliable for cloning either my whole hdd or a partition. I have also used the Samsung equivalent when cloning Samsung to Samsung Hdds. worl (8599)
