| 453890 | 2006-05-11 05:54:00 | if i replaced all the wire in my modem with thicker wire, and kept it ice cold, there would be minimal resistence and maximum capacity, would THIS work? | jesse_jax (9283) | ||

| 453893 | 2006-05-11 06:36:00 | The heat causes copper wire to expand, increasing its area. This would be fine, except that the higher temperature causes its resistance to rise. :groan: But its only faster at the heated bit as thats the expanded pipe..... |

| 453895 | 2006-05-11 07:51:00 | well, what does the router im connected to LOOK like, and where can i find it? Get real. You can't go breaking into Telephone Exchnages or roadside dlsam cabinets. You'll be arrested and even if you did it wouldn't help. I wasn't kidding - the only fix is to upgrade the infrastructure. Live with it or emigrate. |

Forget it jesse, you are dreaming. Ignorance is bliss (so they say) so quit while you are ahead. You have as much chance of influencing your line speed downstream of your connection as you have of paddling a kayak to the moon. If you want the best speeds possible, optimise your computer, rewire your house phone wiring to a 2 wire system and redo all the internal wiring in CAT5E cable (per Telecom's recommendation for DSL), have a splitter installed to feed a dedicated line to your computer, pay for the fastest speed Telecom can offer, and then you'll have the best you are going to get.
