| 454303 | 2006-05-12 04:32:00 | Hi I am getting a lot of returned sp'am messages that appear to have originated from my website. Has anyone got any idea as to how the originating messages occur and can they be stopped? Cheers Gary |

| 454304 | 2006-05-12 05:28:00 | The usual cause is that someone with your address in their address book has had their computer infected, the infection has "harvested" all the email addresses on the PC (including yours). The spam engine infection is using your email as the spoofed "from:" address, so you get the bounces. To stop them, change your email address to a new one and never use it. Sort of negates having an email address though.... |

| 454306 | 2006-05-12 05:36:00 | Are you running a email server? If so, does it have an anti-relay feature turned on? If not, you could be the random victim of spoofed email from a spammer. The return address on spam is frequently false. |

| 454307 | 2006-05-14 10:47:00 | Hi Guys Thanks for the responses. I use Mailwasher Pro and do not reply to any "spam" messages. The returned messages mainly relate to my website domain name and often have spurious names as well as regular-type names ("sxyatr@domainname.net.nz" or "BettyCrocker@domainname.net.nz"). It would be a bit of a bind to have to drop and replace my domain name for my website. I will be going through the website and changing any "info@domainname.net.nz" or references to my actual email address, with coded links so that they won't be as recognisable to spiders, etc. I hope that this might work. Cheers Gary |
