| 454767 | 2006-05-20 05:43:00 | Thanks guys. Still not connecting. When I click My Network Places>View Workgroup Computers, on the laptop I get the message Mshome is not accessible (thats what I've called the network). "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions". I have re run the network wizard. No luck. Graham L - I went Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Network adapters>Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter>Driver>Update Driver It said there was no newer software and what is installed is working properly (I guess it is as I can access the internet ok). As before, I can connect the laptop directly to the router with an ethernet cable and I still can't print, so I'm sure its a network problem. How can I see if I have - and how can I give myself access permissions to the network? Thanks for your perserverance!! |

| 454768 | 2006-05-20 09:02:00 | Thanks everyone. Problem solved (for the time being anyway). It turned out to be ZoneAlarm after all. I had printed no problems since installing ZA, but it had obviously decided to block access. I had tried disabling XP's Firewall, but was silly enough to not try ZA, as I knew it had been working okay. I now remember about a year ago it stopped access to Xtra out of the blue. Any recommendations on a firewall (free or paid for) that isn't flaky? I'm also using AVG anti virus, maybe time for an upgrade? Anyway, thanks for all your input, it was really appreciated. Graham. |
