455636 2006-05-18 02:20:00 A relative is getting 4-5 spam emails a day in spite of XTRA being told to delete and not send. Is this normal for XTRA? I don't see this number from an IHUG or gmail account, for example. linw (53)
455637 2006-05-18 02:29:00 I get 1 or 2 that slip through per week apart from whatever xtra delete. PaulD (232)
455638 2006-05-18 02:42:00 SPAM is like Viruses. Some will always get through. You always need to be vigiliant. KiwiTT_NZ (233)

Fortunately, at the last moment the Air Ministry had second thoughts about that.

Forgot to add that Xtra seems to delete all spam for me. If I switch it off, then I get about 6 a day.

He /she needs to get on their xtra webmail, login. Select spam filter option & check that it hasn't been defaulted back to pass on spam. Select to delete spam. This is quite common - I have had to redo this for about 30-40 people recently.

If that's not the case, then he needs to be more careful with his email address.

455642 2006-05-18 05:23:00 I have completely given up on a personal email client on my PC and now just use Webmail for all my personal emails. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
455643 2006-05-18 06:51:00 Xtra' spam has been worse since they have been having "Their Problems". It was very good for some time.

It would be nice to know what was causing the problem. PJ

455644 2006-05-18 10:49:00 Thanks for replies. I have checked for the correct spam setting. They are only once a day email checkers so it's not as if they are 'flaunting it'! Seems as if XTRA is letting more through than other ISps. Perhaps they are more scared of false positives. linw (53)
455645 2006-05-19 00:23:00 If your relative is running Netscape, Xtra spam filter does not remove messages marked as spam. Suggest instal MailWasher and set [Spam] messages for deletion, MailWasher allows you to view messages before downloading plus grades them to allow you to decide on deletion FrankS (257)
