| 455603 | 2006-05-18 00:57:00 | No one mentioned sockets, if you're going to upgrade, go for a PCI express motherboard with socket 939, semperons are not available on this platform, but the CPU's can be had for quite cheap. As for the video card, I would suggest trying to get a second hand video card from trademe, you will get much more bang for your buck if you go second hand. I have a 9800 Pro in my home theater PC that still plays all the current games fine, you just can't have all the "eye candy" turned up high, which is really no big deal, medium detail is still good enough. Geforce 6 and newer should be fine, I would suggest trying to get the best of the older generations as they tend to perform better than the mid/low end of the current gen. |
