455502 2006-05-17 09:58:00 Couldnt be any further from the truth, Aucklanders are know for thinking theirs nothing further than the bombay hills maybe thats why they are depressed they need to explore further than those hills and they will find that their is life beyond them their hills .
Oh please . That myth again . Not all Aucklanders are like that .

455505 2006-05-17 20:45:00 considering most Aucklanders could sell their property and buy anywhere between 2 and 10 properties anywhere else within NZ! Take that! :D

Yes one house for the aucklander and one for their ego (they tend to be big enough) :D

Because Orcon is in Auckland. Its not seeing you specifically, its seeing them.

And it all depends on how much info your firewall allows - I didn't get any co-ordinates, and not even a city. Hah.

Oh really? Lived in Auckland? Been there long?

MOST Aucklanders can barely afford the mortgage payments on one house there . Sell it and it doesn't leave you much change .
I get sick of people who think Auckland is one big Howick or Remuera .
Take a look at houses in West Auckland or South Auckland and the families that live in them .
Plenty of people earning minimum wage or at best $12 an hour .

For instance we sold our West AUckland house and paid back the bank which left us a budget of $100,000 . Masses of houses costing that in the rest of the country is there??

:badpc: :2cents: ;)

Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses are allocated by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) to various organisations. The US one is called ARIN (www.arin.net) (American Registry for Internet Numbers), and in our part of the world, it's APNIC (http:) or Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre. However, there are also National Internet Registries like TWNIC that operate under APNIC in this region.

Sites like the above look at the address of the organisation that has been allocated the IP range your host system is in, and do a longitude/latitude lookup on that. It's not very exact at all, as you can see.

You would get better results by introducing geographic location records (LOC) into the domain name system (DNS) (www.ckdhr.com) but few providers do this at the moment. I'm sure it'll become more common place soon but then again, not everyone wants their exact whereabouts to be known is it may assist with the targetting of DIY ICBMs and stealth missiles for instance.

Other things that can skew location information include proxying somewhere on the network, deliberate IP address spoofing and incorrect information the whois for IP ranges.
