455433 2006-05-17 23:21:00 oh yes, and seeing as you asked a two part question i should go ahead and answer the second...
most dvd players (and recorders) will cope with other formats of video from your pc, try converting it to mpeg or avi (one without crazy codecs) and authough it will take more space (in terms of MB) it will work on your player. Converting to dvd is of course an option but will take much longer.

ah ok, so I maybe able to convert it to mpeg or avi....Yes cos converting to DVD takes ages and its big of course too.

OK, so lets say I have a 700MB DivX file, if I convert it to mpeg or avi without fancy codecs, how big would it be any ideas? And how long would it take? And what programme would I use?

I'm sure theres heaps of variables but I'd like to know some rough idea. Shame you cant just network it and copy it onto the hard drive. Maybe I'll just chuck it across to my xbox.....

OK, and one more question....what type of lead would I need to play sound from the TV/DVD recorder/video set through the stereo? I guess I would need RCA to RCA?

455434 2006-05-18 00:24:00 What? It works fine for me (FF 1 . 5 . 0 . 3 Linux)

I guess we have different settings on Firefox . . . I cannot get any pictures of the components to show in FireFox when I view the pages I linked .

The only way for me to see them is light up Internet Explorer and there they are!

I kinda like it this way anyway . . . makes FireFox a lot safer .

BTW: I have the same FireFox as you . :D

455435 2006-05-18 00:32:00 http://www.vcdeasy.org/ came up when i threw a google at the problem, your dvd play should be able to play vcd and this program will convert from divx. however it is a trial version so you might like to use something that is free...

i cant think of any atm because i havent used one in ages, but there was one that had a chicken for an icon or something, called EZvcd i think.but a google didnt bring anything up this time

[edit]harhar, i knoew it was soemthing like that... its called EAZYvcd and you can get it from http://www.eazyvcd.tk/ i dont know if that ones has an option to take divx files in tho.[edit]
