455121 2006-05-16 21:37:00 If you use FireFox/Mozilla, look at your VIEW on the toolbar, and hover over TOOLBARS. I bet Yahoo is there...just unclick it to make it not show.

I think Yahoo is a package deal with FireFox/Mozilla suite...too bad....and such a nice browser in bed with that nonsense.
I have tried that,it just comes back.
The only way was to ermove from add and remove.

Many thanks to all you kind folk who offered the help. First off it was Microsoft that put me in the mess, by saying that I should download Yahoo toolbar. Will have a good think about their advice next time.
The peculiar thing about this problem is that after deleting Yahoo the usual way, it was still controlling the computer and refusing to let IE come up. According to "Search" Yahoo didn't exist!.
The fix was made by using a link from OE and then restoring IE by going back to the default setting.
Thanks again...Ron24..

OK, now the last part: get offa IE and get thee to Firefox .

Set Firefox as the default browser, and be sure to click the little box to have Firefox check that it is the default every time . . . . you'll be a lot happier without IE

EErr No

I use firefox and there is no sign whatsoever of yahoo (apart from in the list of search engines i use),

if the toolbar was in firefox you could just remove it by going TOOLS -> Extensions then remove it

In IE you can just go VIEW -> Toolbars and then deselect it, (this won't remove it, but it will hide it),
it should be removable from the add/remove programs, have you tried removing it from an admin account, rather than a standard user

There should be a pencil icon on the yahoo toolbar that you can select uninstall from

Cheers
