| 455126 | 2006-05-16 00:37:00 | Have 2 HDD's one has XP and Xandros OSystems on it and the other has windows apps How can I (and where do i get anything needed) transfer the Xandros partition to the other drive and have the duel boot still work ? I would prefer to leave the apps where they are in the mean time. There is heaps of room on the 2nd drive.Would the 1st drive be returned to a single unpartitioned drive. |

| 455127 | 2006-05-16 03:03:00 | It's possible. Anything's possible. But I'm not sure it's worth the effort (and a lot of single-user mode command line stuff) . Apart from the relatively simple (though still not guaranteed oops-proof) repartitioning, there are lot of configuration files where you would have to alter the device identifiers. Partition Magic or one of the free partitioners (ranish, parted, gparted, or even just FIPS?) will split the second drive. I'm not sure how easy it is to merge the cleared space on the first one to the Windows partition. I'd be inclined to split the second drive, remove Linux from the first one, and restore the MBR (the XP repair console can do that), then install Linux on the second drive. :D |
