Asus Laptop. W8.1. Windows Live for mail.

I am coming to terms with W8.1, but do I like the email part? No I Don't. Briought up on Outlook Express & then Outlook, I now find Windows Live Mail horrible. Hard to say why & what. But..... PJ

1402400 2015-06-10 06:22:00 Windows Live Mail is a mixture of Outlook Express and Outlook. Some like it others dont. Every email client is different.

Example: Some swear by Thunderbird -- I swear at it -- I hate it, it can be a real pain to fix as well when it corrupts, had lots of jobs recovering mails from failed TB installs. Each to their own :)

1402401 2015-06-10 06:35:00 I am tempted to go back to Outlook.Com, or perhaps Windows Office Outlook. If I could get hold of the Email part only. PJ Poppa John (284)

It's similar to windows mail.
Bit easier for old farts to get their head around.

1402404 2015-06-10 07:13:00 Office365 Personal is like $10/month, may be preferred to paying $200 up front for just Outlook. inphinity (7274)
1402405 2015-06-10 10:01:00 I use live mail and am happy with it but have you tried the "metro" style E-mail? You may hate it even more but you already have it so if you haven't tried it you may as well. Usually to be found on the start screen, a blue tile with an envelope icon. If it's not there just type mail on the start screen and that should find it. dugimodo (138)

It looks as if 2009 was meant for XP. How did you get it to work? PJ

1402407 2015-06-10 10:25:00 Don't know how it Windows Live compares with Today's Email Clients but have not used this in a while filehippo.com

Use Thunderbird with no issues, find it easy to back up and deploy

I saw the blue tile with a white envelope with a blue flap. Is this the one you mean? When I open it , it appears to be Hotmail!!! PJ
