1401869 2015-06-03 00:44:00 I had occasion to have to do reinstall from a back up of Windows 7 (Home 64bit).

Since the reinstall Windows does not recognise that Office is in fact installed (it is and activated)6507.Office works, but when I go to updates it is not included on the update up list and so it does not update.

Office 2010 is legit and has not caused any problems of this kind before.I have uninstalled using Revouninstaller, using a Fixit programme from Microsoft all to no avail.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1401870 2015-06-03 01:45:00 It's fetching updates for Windows only (the default setting). pcuser42 (130)
1401871 2015-06-03 02:42:00 Try this, open windows update, on the left click " change Settings" make sure "give me updates for Microsoft products -------" is ticked, if it isn't, tick it, then try running updates again. wainuitech (129)
1401872 2015-06-03 02:47:00 Click on Get Updates for Other Microsoft Products. Office = Other Microsoft Product. Alex B (15479)
1401873 2015-06-03 05:13:00 Hi WT,have done that and it is set for updates, but it does not 'see' Office at all.I have even turned off updates...rebooted and then allowed again. It simply does not acknowledge Offices existence. ruup (1827)
1401874 2015-06-03 07:00:00 Hi WT,have done that and it is set for updates, but it does not 'see' Office at all.I have even turned off updates...rebooted and then allowed again. It simply does not acknowledge Offices existence. Have a read of the following -- www.msoutlook.info Scroll down the page to about half way, you'll see the following
When you’ve switched successfully, the Windows Update screen will no longer show the “Find out more” link and should state:
You receive updates: For Windows and other products from Microsoft Update. Under that is a Picture, in the picture is red Around " Find Out More" If you have that wording click Find out more, and follow the instructions.

If its not showing, then go into the settings ( on left) and untick the box give me updates for Microsoft products--- the find out more will then appear, click it, a MS page will open, install the Office update it gives you ( takes a minute or two) then re-run Windows updates.

1401875 2015-06-04 00:25:00 Thanks for the suggestions,I tried numerous things from various websites,a couple of Microsoft 'Fixits' to no avail...but then I read a strange suggestion and that was to make Internet Explorer the default browser and low and behold it worked !!! No idea why,but certainly something to keep in the back of the mind if strange things happen again. ruup (1827)
1401876 2015-06-04 01:08:00 Theres many things that can break Windows programs, And thinking now, IE is used by Windows updates, its like doing a fresh install of XP -- :horrified IE 6 wont bring through Windows updates, you have to manually upgrade IE to at Least 7 for them to work. wainuitech (129)
