| 1391207 | 2014-12-30 04:46:00 | Has anyone in the F1 community bought a dash cam/DVR I have been thinking about purchasing one however most of the reviews that I have read, seem to be written by the seller of that particular brand and then denigrate all the others Has anyone purchased a camera and has an opinion, either good or bad? Cheers HH |

| 1391209 | 2014-12-30 07:04:00 | I got a Navman cam from Tricky Dicky about 6 months ago, they don't seem to sell it now. The image quality is fine. A couple of things that bug me - the battery is rubbish, pretty much need it plugged in all the time. And it makes 1 minute/100mb files... so there's quite a few after a long journey. |

What is the purpose of a dash cam? I don't understand why you need one. Do you review the footage when you get home? Surely watching grass grow would be more interesting.:illogical |

That Techmoan bloke is a great source of information for almost all the widely available mini-cams. If you use the highest available resolution it gives a pretty good image, but it eats memory space voraciously. Needs grade 4 micro SD cards, higher is unnecessary and in fact undesirable. The beauty is that you can select the settings that best suit your application. The price represents pretty good value. |

Otherwise it is a toy :) They are used a lot in Europe - especially for insurance claims. |

It's been resident in the glove box for 14 months - I came to the conclusion that yes, watching grass grow is infinitely more attention grabbing. :) |

| 1391214 | 2014-12-30 21:05:00 | I bought mine off Ebay - not Amazon. Here (i.ebayimg.com(KGrHqF,!rMFF+p-kGhEBRjLHEukC!~~60_12.JPG) is a similar camera. |

| 1391215 | 2014-12-31 04:59:00 | i have a blackvue dr400. fairly good, good quality image and stores reasonable well on microsd card. but there are cheaper ones that do the same quality. there are a few review sites and also check out utube videos of them in use. i recommend a rear facing cam as well, either a dual cam unit or a separate 2nd cam. you can miss number plates with front cam but rear cam will pick them up because idiots usually tailgate. do don't even bother with any vga ones. waste of time. watch the lens angles. wide ones may tell a bit more at whats going on but the lack of range means you can miss number plates. gps is good when it works properly. my blackvue shows the speed incorrect, it doesn't like rapid changes of speed ie shows me doing 50km/h when i'm actually stopped. but the gps location makes it easier finding footage later on. cameras are normally hard wired in, you can also get power setups so you don't flatten the car battery. you can have them running all the time and they record only when the g sensors go off (ie been hit). What is the purpose of a dash cam? I don't understand why you need one. because people are scum, they try to bash and kill you (deliberately or just because they are stupid). even when they are caught they lie because normally there little evidence and they can get away with it. to add insult to injury, you can get done for it. |
