1390969 2014-12-26 18:00:00 Is it me or are some of the "sale" items not that cheap?
For instance, HN had a particular 32" TV, $374 on their sale, Heathcotes have had it for $329 for the last couple of weeks.

Although did buy some jeans (online) for $5 each yesterday.

1390972 2014-12-26 19:51:00 Got a more modern stereo system (www.sony.co.nz) yesterday from NL for $199. The warehouse are still selling it for $319. Not a bad price. The speakers are smaller than the stereo I've got at the mo tho.

Just have to buy something to put it on now

1390973 2014-12-26 20:22:00 Didn't go. Family got some bed linen and a pepper grinder. About it. I stayed home. I generally get stuff that last years - like my water resistant jacket since 2000. My travel pack 2004. dSLR the previous one 11yrs ago, upgraded last year. Nomad (952)

1390975 2014-12-26 22:24:00 I got a vodafone Smart 4 Turbo Smartphone for $120 (Listed at the store for $124!!!), which has the 64bit version processor of the Moto G (Snapdragon 400 32 bit vs 410 64 bit) 1GB of ram, 5MP camera, a really decent battery life, only let down being low viewing angles on the screen! darkoverlord123 (16996)

1390977 2014-12-26 23:10:00 The fact that shops can give up to 50% discount, and still make a profit, in a sale indicates the following:-

* They normally overcharge (used to be called an Indian discount)
* The people in charge of stock control need sacking
* The product is no good and they just want to get rid of it
* They are going under and have to get rid of the stock
* The stock is obsolete
* Stock is dumped from overseas branches where it is discontinued or obsolete

I am quite happy to pay a reasonable price for an item of good quality with good service backup. I am not interested in discounts or marketing bullshit. I refuse to buy something with a price tag ending in 99cts unless they are willing to give me 1ct change. This saves quite a lot of money!

1390978 2014-12-26 23:33:00 Someone has to take these people - Briscoes especially, for their prepetual 20-80% off to court for false advertising.

We are living in an oligopoly, they have been ripping us off since forever and we need a change.
