Last year I purchased a laptop whilst in Sydney. The 1 year manufacturers warranty runs out soon and I was contemplating buying the extended warranty (can be purchased at any time whilst still covered by the 1 yr warranty). I know in New Zealand this is pretty much pointless as if it was to break it would likely be covered by our CGA (product expected to last/function correctly for a reasonable amount of time). However seeing as I purchased it overseas I'm not covered here in NZ. Does Australian law offer consumers the same protection? Or am I going to need to purchase an extended warranty to be covered? |
