| 1402419 | 2015-06-11 02:14:00 | I am coming to terms with W8.1, but do I like the email part? No I Don't. Briought up on Outlook Express & then Outlook, I now find Windows Live Mail horrible. Hard to say why & what. But..... PJ Are you actually using Win Live Mail (now part of Essentialls) , or the email just that comes bundled with Win8.1 ?? (thats not WinLive mail) Win Live Mail would have had to be installed into Win8.1 But I'd agree, WinLive Mail now looks awefull (to me) . If you dont like WinLiveMail's new look & feel, chances are you wont like the new version of Outlook either. Thunderbird feels more like the email programs of old . However , Thunderbirds handling of contacts/address book seems poorly thought out , compared to Outook (pre 2013). The other option is to just start using webmail. |

The heading says, 'windows live mail 2012'. in W8.1 what was the mail program? PJ |

WinLiveMail 2009 isnt really available for download anymore, not from sites I would trust . That link further back isnt the full (offline installer) version & now may not work , but could be worth a try. It may not import your old email & settings though. Ive found a link for Outlook Express download if you really get desperate :-) It looks like even Thunderbird has changed to a 'modern' look (urgh). Im glad I didnt upgrade mine to the latest version. |

| 1402423 | 2015-06-11 03:19:00 | www.majorgeeks.com Not that Im recommending it in any way :-) Nor do I know if its Kosher . Maybee someone here has the full WinLive2009 installer (offline Installer) . Or perhaps a kind soul with some old software could offer you the old version of Outlook 2003? That would have to be better than Express. |

Be VERY careful --- Outlook 2003 Offically IS NOT COMPATIBLE with Windows 8.1 www.microsoft.com Some are using it and have no problems others have nothing but problems. |

W...Ok thanks. I was more than happy with Outlook Express which is still on the XP PC. I have never really come to terms with Live mail. I just not know which way to jump. PJ |

Thats interesting. Any idea what the known issues are, or just MS wanting to cut the cord ? I wonder if its because MS have stopped support for 2003, or perhaps issues with 2003 & newer exchange servers Ive installed it on Win8 (told to) , didnt see any issues with the very basic functions, simple usage. |

| 1402427 | 2015-06-11 07:02:00 | Given that my "understanding" ability is not good these days...will the 2009 be easier & less complicated than the present 0ne? 2012? PJ Again Hate to be the bearer of bad News, But version 2009 doesn't want to install on 8.1, located the installer, and tried on 8.1, with the following error 6521 Thats interesting. Any idea what the known issues are, or just MS wanting to cut the cord ? I wonder if its because MS have stopped support for 2003, or perhaps issues with 2003 & newer exchange servers Some problems I've read about are the auto complete doesn't work, sometimes it appears to be unstable. One that I have seen several times, was passwords wont hold, and you get prompted to enter it each and every time send /Receive runs :( Many reports on several forums that it worked OK on 8 but when upgrading to 8.1 it breaks. Others have no problems at all. |

| 1402428 | 2015-06-11 22:00:00 | Ours installed without any problems. Was over three months ago that it was installed. May have been something in a recent update thats blocking it now. This is that dodgy trial version that is still going. pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Just did a refresh at day 87. |
