1391245 2014-12-31 05:29:00 Some big variations there from a Yaris to a Murano

If you want a smaller car you can't go past a Yaris ,no cambelt ,no CVT transmission and being a Toyota is reliable

Mid range,Mazda 6 or Honda Accord

Older costs less and newer costs more

Have not got any of these either

Hey Lawrence thanks for answer , is cvt transmission not good ???

1391246 2014-12-31 06:30:00 There has been horror stories with the CVT Transmission in the past with jap imports mostly poorly maintained because of cost

Have not owned one but have driven one, quite a few makes are now using CVT's as they are cheaper to build

Info here www.cvt.co.nz

I like toyota, biggest complaint is they can be a bit bland and boring. If you buy one you're stuck with it because they refuse to die. The Mazda's are also nice but the 6 can be a bit hungry and is more of a mid size than a small car.
I'm a big guy and a lot of small - medium cars I can't comfortably drive. The Yaris is one of the few that I can.

1391248 2014-12-31 23:40:00 With a budget of $27K, a number of smaller cars could be bought brand new (e.g. Mazda 2).

Bought one for SWMBO in March last year (2014), and, apart from the colour, she loves it. Goes like the clappers, runs on the smell of an oily rag. The only thing I don't like about it is the visibility when backing, but that could be fixed by adding a reversing camera..

Funny you should say that I was at Gearbox factory in Henderson picking up a road ranger, when the guy behind the counter said they were expensive to fix and not reliable. There is a cut away one on the counter. He encourages people to buy them for his retirement fund.
As for Mr Johcars comment ,my dragon has a Mazda 2 pretty good car. Been wanting her to sell it as it is getting on a bit (2009) but she loves it to bits.

Hey well in my view camry and commodore are medium to large cars . When u say mazda 6 can be hungry do u mean fuel consumption is higher cause i learnt mazda 6 have skyactiv engine which is more fuel efficent than camry . But yeah i think it depends what year the mazda 6 you drove .

Thanks

LOL!

You can always sell it! And they do die if you hit something hard enough with it .

1391253 2015-01-04 09:30:00 Hi thanks for the link was helpful thanks

I had a honda Capa 1.5 L with CVT. Quick to takeoff, but seem too slowish if you wanted to boot it from mid speeds and up. The CVT made a clanging sound at times, and felt a bit weird as you you can't feel any gear shifts common in autos. Got rammed from the back and split the entire floor at the base of the bumper. 3 Insurance Assessors told me it's deemed as a write off. So back to big cars (currently Odyssey - doors are quite heavy, took a while to get use to close them a bit harder), rather than poky little Fit/Yaris, etc.

1391254 2015-01-06 01:04:00 Some Toyota models are only rated average(not the Corolla) as there has been a push to get more cars out, they are now trying to get back the reputation as the most reliable manufacturer. Honda seems to have more reliable rated models currently.

I have got the impression that older ctv transmissions often lacked legs, but the newer models were OK. Might have been talking to too many salesmen though :o
