1402277 2015-06-09 02:59:00 I am trying to see if my Cashbook for Windows will run in Puppy Linux.
I installed WINE, I then installed the Cashbook, during which NET framework was also installed.
WINE is not in the Start Menu.

Problem is that the Cashbook won't run!
I couldn't find WINE anywhere so I tried to re-install it, only to be told that it was already installed!

Could some Linux boffin answer the following questions:-
1] What folder would WINE be in?
2] What folder would .NET be in?
3] How do I un-install a Windows program? (Package manager only does Linux programs)

I used to know how to set up WINE with DOS/Windows programs but have forgotten :help:

1402278 2015-06-09 03:50:00 Have you installed PlayOnLinux? It's a nice frontend to Wine. Nick G (16709)

1402280 2015-06-09 03:59:00 Install PlayOnLinux, it'll fine Wine and give you a gui to make installation of Wine programs etc simpler :) Nick G (16709)

Sounds good but when I select it I get the message "PlayOnLinux is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry"

I presume that root=administrator. What to do?

1402282 2015-06-09 06:34:00 Either run it as a non-root user, or there are a few tutorials floating around to modifying POL to run as root. inphinity (7274)
1402283 2015-06-09 08:36:00 I give up! Puppy does not support non root users, other than two dogs, Spotty & Fido!!!!! Neither work.
I may try Ubuntu, I had it before and ran a lot of Windows programs on it.

1402285 2015-06-10 08:49:00 1. ~/.wine (your home directory and its hidden)
2. Somewhere found in the above, takes on a similar structure to how it'd be in windows.
3. Through WINE or through the programs own uninstaller.

Can you provide more info on the cashbook? Can it be downloaded so I could test it.

Have you looked at alternatives you could try on Linux?

Cheers,

KK
