1402094 2015-06-05 22:22:00 I downloaded Intel Extreme tuning utility and performed a CPU stress test and notice that my CPU temperature goes up to 80 ~ 90 C

I removed the stock heat-sink and fan, cleaned the thermal paste and reapplied, reseated the heatsink and fan, ran the stress test again with same temperature results.

Is the temperature far too high?

What can I do other than getting another cooler?

1402095 2015-06-06 00:19:00 I shouldn't worry. You have no way of knowing how accurate or inaccurate the reported temperature is anyway.

It will shut down when junction temperature exceeds the maximum allowable (probably around 100C), after all you are carrying out a stress test and it hasn't shut down...........ergo it is OK :) :banana

Edit: Try again in the middle of summer !

1402096 2015-06-06 03:10:00 It's high but unless you regularly load your CPU to 100% it's unlikely to be a problem. If it bothers you about all you can do is install a better cooler.
The hyper 212 evo comes to mind, there are of course many better options but it's one of the best "bang for buck" coolers.
