| 1401771 | 2015-06-01 23:32:00 | I have just re-installed Silent Hunter 5 Used it briefly when it first came out. Can't remember how the install went, but it was working fine at the time. Anyway after the install you have to logon to Uplay & then type in the CD key. Problem, I have no recollection of the user name or password I used at the time. Tried the lost password road. Tried it with all my current emails but got no response. Most likely had a different address then. So created a new user & logged on to that. OK so far. Put in the CD Key & got the message, already in use. I have place a similar worded message in the Ubisoft help section but, are still waiting for a response. Any ideas? |

The perils of changing E-mail accounts I guess. On the other hand things like steam and Uplay can be great when you do know your E-mail address, I can reinstall all my old games without hunting down the disks and keys. |

| 1401773 | 2015-06-02 02:38:00 | I can remember a previous email address that I may have used but have changed providers since then. So thats no help. I included the cd key in the message to Ubisoft, so are hoping that may help. I believe they are in Romania. I'll give them another week & then flag it. The graphics would feel a bit dated anyway, I've been using Eurotruck Sim 2 lately. |

| 1401775 | 2015-06-02 22:05:00 | Thanks. I had a look at that. Used to use those no cd exe in the past with the older games which required a disk to run them. I did download the SH5 exicutable & put it in the game folder but it didn't help with this issue. Tell me if I've missed something there. This game seems to need to be started initialy through the launcher. After that it can be changed to run offline. |

So try another...that was an example.....read the descriptions, find one that bypasses the uplay thing....gameburnworld, gamecopyworld are just 2 of the more reputable ones...there are others. |

| 1401777 | 2015-06-03 02:46:00 | I've been browsing the relevant game forums. I think its a dead duck. Copied this from one of them: "Its part of Ubisoft's DRM policy, so far as I know its hard coded in the game to check in and verify the install. I doubt there's any way around it without a ton of work. It seems like TDW's patch had an option to disable Uplay listening but the game still has to be launched from the program" |

Orange Box had protection not just at the beginning but all the way through. I now have mine run without any steam at all.....(Yes I bought the original and still have it) Can be done, just a matter of finding the relevant hack file. Or give up and buy the game again and start over. |

| 1401779 | 2015-06-03 06:05:00 | And this is why DRM is ****. Funny how you wouldn't have this problem with a pirate copy. |

| 1401780 | 2015-06-06 04:22:00 | Bit of an update on this saga. Got an email from Ubisoft Support. "Recently you requested personal assistance from Ubisoft Support. As we have not heard from you in the last four days your case has been closed automatically. Below you will find the full transcript of your ticket. If this issue has NOT been resolved to your satisfaction, you may reopen it at any time by clicking on the link below" So I clicked on the link below & it took me to the logon section of Uplay. I loged on there & it opened to the support section. There was my current history. My email to them & 3 subseqent replies from them. I guess I should have known they would reply in there instead of to the email I sent. "Regarding your query, Could you please send us the digital images of each of the following: 1) Game manual with the installation. 2) Proof of purchase. 3) Bar code from the games box 4) Activation key of the game / And all the possible codes you have for the game. Once we receive these images we will be able to help you further" Only thing I could send them was a pic of the barcode from the plastic case & the CD key which was in the original email anyway. So I'm curious to see what happens now. I guess I'll have to logon everyday & check. |
