456630 2006-05-21 10:38:00 This question probably has the most obvious answer . . . . but I don't know :help:

Can someone tell me if we have digital (DVB-T) TV here in New Zealand yet? I know digital satellite TV isn't, and different broadcasting channels are looking into it at the moment . . . . but DVB-T, is that the same or not?

I would really want TV in my bedroom, however, I can't get a TV cable through here, so my only option is going wireless . Given that some people are already selling these, does it mean it's an option already?

In particular, I'm looking at this Asus My Cinema-U3000 ( . asus . com/products4 . aspx?l1=18&l2=84&l3=0&model=967&modelmenu=1" target="_blank">www . asus . com) unit selling for about $150~

If it is available already, can someone tell me what channels I can get?

Any help appreciated .

456631 2006-05-21 22:24:00 I heard that TVNZ are trialing DVB-T from the Sky Tower at the moment, though I am not certain on the details or whether it will continue long term (hopefully it will). Maybe someone in Auckland that has a TV with a digital tuner in it could confirm whether this is the case?

You can get TV One, TV2 and a few others via satellite (DVB-S) at the moment (also a trial) but you won't be able to get CanWest stations until later this year or early next year. :)

456632 2006-05-21 22:48:00 Have you considered something like this:
www.dse.co.nz
or:
www.dse.co.nz

I have one of them, and they work fairly well provided you're not going through too many walls.

Yes, I have, however, I want to be able to watch different channels to the rest of the household. They all think that reality shows and things on Sky is much more educational than the news...

Oh well... anyone got one of these DVB-T tuners? As far as I'm aware, it's already built into many high-end notebook computers such as the Asus and Toshiba range.

Anyone in Auckland with a high end notebook computer with inbuilt digital TV tuner that could try it out for me?

456635 2006-05-23 08:18:00 I have one of these wireless products they are very good and never have had a problem with them until i went out and bought a digital cordless phone which also happens to operate on the same 2.4ghz frequency as the wireless satellite. As a result the tv picture gets white bars and noise due to the phone, so i decided that because the phone cost way more than the wireless satellite i have had to shelve the satellite and wait until they get a better wireless satellite that operates on a different frequency.
