Have you heard of a trojen with this name? 'Dropper . small . 8 . AA' Every antivirus program or cleaner proram I try to install comes up with ' corrupt or bad installation file' Should I take my pc to a professional Monday morning? Dropper is a trojan that turns off anti-virus scanners and virus killers, making them not able to update or even run . It tries to propagate by riding piggy-back on any outgoing mail you send to friends and e-mail contacts . . . suggest that you inform them that they probably have it now too . . . You need to get a new scanner, maybe even online to get rid of it, one that has not been corrupted so far . Before trying any anti-stuff, it is suggested that you turn off your System Restore and remove all the restore points on any/all your harddrives as they are safe harbors for trojans and will re-corrupt your system every time you reboot . anyway . . . . . . . it's a toughie to remove according to CastleCops but Spybot S&D (http://www . safer-networking . org/) can remove it . . . . . although it has to be done in Safe Mode, and HiJackThis will help too . Check that link out and see if you can understand any of it . . . if not, please come back and we will get you some help . In the meantime, get HiJackThis ( . majorgeeks . com/download3155 . html" target="_blank">www . majorgeeks . com) , using the nearest mirror site that you can find, download it into a folder that you make (I created a "Security Prgms" file for things like this on my root drive), and post the results here for Sir Speedy's perusal when he wakes up sometime after high noon, whatever his local timezone is anyway . If Speedy is away for long, maybe Pancake will pick up on this for you; either of them are security gurus . |

| 456415 | 2006-05-20 19:25:00 | There was only 1 entry in her HJT log that needed ticking . It may have been part of mywebsearch . I dont know if she's fixed it yet, or not . She wont have system restore, as she's using 98 . Which doesnt have it . You could try ccleaner (http://www . ccleaner . com) Wendy . Some of these dropper trojans hide themselves in temp folders . Which ccleaner will empty, when u run it . Or run Spybot, which I think, is already installed on your system . (update it first) . |
