I have 2 quotes for a comp these are the parts and prices - any thoughts opinons very welcome :help: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0GHz Socket 939 Intel Pentium 4 630 3.0GHz Socket 775 Is the AMD fast enough? I would wait for these as the prices of 939 will come down . :thumbs: 2 . I would check on pc hardwear forums and see reviews on what you want to buy,so you get good items . 3 . You may want to get a AM2 instead,the motherboards look good,some with heatpipes instead of fans on the northbridge . 4 . You may want to go dual core cpu on either the 939,AM2,or the Intel . 5 . If the computer is for gaming then 1gb/2gb ram would be better for that . :D 6 . The new Intel take ddr2 ram and the new AM2 from AMD takes ddr2 ram as well . 939 takes ddr ram . |

Eventually the S939 prices will come down . You can spend your life waiting for the next best thing . Some of the ASUS S939 boards have heatpipes too you know . And from what I've read so far on the AM2 - the performance gain is minimal so I personally decided not to bother, especially as the price of the AM2 boards and CPUs will be high initially, so I just bought a S939 dual core and a new graphics card instead and it will do me until whatever replaces AM2 . Bugger DDR2 . |
