Hi eddieparker - I remember vividly from Windows ME (and am sure that Windows 98 would not be different) that in safe mode you still had to switch off the screensaver (and the picture on desktop if set to change every hour or so) ---- if you did not then everything kept returning repeatedly to 10% !!
