457259 2006-05-24 02:02:00 Hi Folks,

A couple of months ago, we started receiving lots of "returned mail" emails.

Turns out that someone has been using our domain name as a "reply to" option when sending out spam.

Typically, the sender's address will be "chtys (or some such similar nonsense)@ourdomain.org.nz"

I contacted our webhost about it, but he said he couldn't do much.

In the meantime, there are lots and lots of emails whizzing around cyberspace with our domain name as their origin. I'm worried our genuine emails will be blocked as spam sometime soon.

Does anyone know of anything we can do?

Thanks,

Joe Davies

Also do a search of PressF1 on this subject as there have been a few threads on this & there may be some tips/ idea you could use.

Sorry that I could not be of much help

457261 2006-05-24 03:10:00 If you have a "catch all" mail account disable it. This will prevent much of the spam being delivered to you.

You dont need to wrorry about your domain being blacklisted by groups such as Spamcop etc..as they target the senders system, not your domain.

You may get a few individuals blocking your domain, however depending where the mail is being sent this shouldn't really affect you.

Welcome to the internet! :badpc:
