456991 2006-05-23 11:01:00 i was reading the herald and it says ISP's will be offering 7Mbps download speeds very soon and ADSL2+ by the end of the year.

Is this story online?, as I would like to read it.

When will we be getting 7Mbps?

When they unbundled the local loop in 2 - 5 years+ time.

456992 2006-05-23 11:07:00 Oh sorry a pig just flew past my window . . . . . . . . . . when people are meant to be on either 2 mb or 3 . 5 mb services and they are not getting anything anywhere near that .

Don't worry about 7Mbps . When will we get the 3 . 5 Mbps we are supposed to be getting now .

There are a LOT of people out there who CAN Get 3 . 5M ( I am one of them who can get 3 . 5M) & most of the people who cant get 3 . 5M are the ones who are connected to exchanges that can't cope & other issues, so if you cant get 3 . 5 its your exchange which is the problem .

you must be pretty cold at night sitting at the side of the road next to an exchange with your lapstop hooked up to it . As you seem to be one of the very very few that is getting what they are paying for .

as I said above its all becuase your connected to exchanges that can't cope

456993 2006-05-23 11:14:00 Does anyone know which NZ ISP provide unlimited traffic with around 1 mega byte per second of download speed?

As I keep saying when people ask this, Any NZ ISP that provide unlimited traffic do NOT provide this for long.

Take a look at orcon as a example they offered unlimited traffic & a few months after they started offering unlimited traffic they went back to cap services, why they did this? Is because all the people who are heavy downloaders move to that ISP.

456994 2006-05-23 11:16:00 If the retarded Auckland city council had of allowed Telstra to run there cables it would be available in Auckland too.

If Telstra put there cables underground, then we would have them, because Telstra wanted to put the cables in the air, that why we don’t have them as this time.

Nope. Try Backing up a 2 GB website account!, I did it once & it took be over 12 hours to complete that! & if I had faster download speed it would of took less then that.

umm boo hoo? Have you any idea the cost of that opposed to poles (where there are already power cables on poles) . I have Telstra underground on my ST as there are no power poles .

If you have ugly power cables on Poles and sling another cable underneath them does it really matter?

Christchurch and Wellington have lived with it, and its not like Auckland is a pretty city lol . I am afraid that was a very backward decision, and they call the rest of the country slow!

Why do you need to download it?
I edit mine then UPload it, so its backed up before it even reaches the hosting servers....

Maybe because there is at lest 5 people doing changes to different websites in the account in any given month & half the people who do the changes don’t stick around for too long (like a month or a year), that why I need to backup the account every one in a while so if any thing did happen to the web server or the company we are with we have a backup of those changes.
