457042 2006-05-23 02:05:00 Can anyone point me to a tutorial or page which simply explains the process. I've downloaded from my camcorder successfully. Got Ulead Video Studio 6 Basic and I need to burn an NTSC DVD for an exchange student. Or can I use AVI - does it make any difference?

Looks like Basic won't do NTSC or is this something authoring sortware should be doing? I guess I use Nero to burn.

457043 2006-05-23 08:14:00 Usually it's best to edit your footage in AVI format in your editing program (Premiere, Ulead, Sony Vegas etc). When you have all your clips how you want them, use an authoring program (Adobe Audition, Sony DVD Architect etc), to put it all together for a DVD. The authoring program will usually also handle the burning side of things.

Have a look at VideoHelp (http://www.videohelp.com/). I've had a truckload of support from the folks there. A search should throw up some useful info, otherwise post your question in the Beginners forum, under Forums on the left hand side of their home page.

There are quite a few freebies available in both program categories. VideoHelp have a big database of what's available and where to get it.

HTH :)

457044 2006-05-23 08:39:00 That app should have basic editing abilities and be able to author to DVD.

Find the start button and follow your nose, Start/new project>add media> author. (thats a guess btw I dont have it handy) You can skip past any of the editing functions if your media files are good to go.

The option to author in NTSC will be in the options somewhere, Look and ye shall find, Just do a few dummy runs if you have to and cancel the project at the end.

Or.....even....press F1 and bring up the help file....

457045 2006-05-23 22:53:00 Cheers Braindead and Metla. That site looks good - just what I need. And I agree Metla - suck it and see. The trouble is that the original downloaded file has disappeared and I cannot find it. The Ulead file is edited (badly) so as you say, delete and start again.

According to the options I looked at, only PAL is available, not NTSC. But I'm not worried because I know there will be a way to do it. We have an American friend who sends AVI video to the US and it can be viewed. However it strikes me that she is probably using VCD rather then DVD. Very downmarket. ;)

457046 2006-05-24 01:48:00 Hi Winston. Have been looking at Video Help for some time.
I will be doing the same as you when I find time, putting AVi to NTSC. The only thing I have found so far is AVI2DVD, www.videohelp.com I have tried to convert a NTSC DVD to PAL with this program but did not work , so I will try this to convert AVI to NTSC.
See what you think of it.
