456963 2006-05-22 22:36:00 For the last month or so, I have found surfing via dial-up in the evenings to be bad to the point of almost giving it away. The few contacts I have locally tell me they are experiencing the same problem - page loading at snails pace, if at all.

During the daytime, my set-up works perfectly and I have no complaints, but after 6pm it becomes hopeless. Before you ask, I have spybotted, adawared, defragged and a/virused. I run XP and am connected to ISP Kiwi On Line, who again, until now, I have been happy with. I live in Tauranga, and normally get around 50 Kbps.

I saw a thread a while back, where another Tauranga person mentioned this.

Before I speak to the gentleman at KOL with the "Peter Sellers" accent, I would like to know what others are experiencing. I know about the recent broadband problems, and have seen it suggested that Xtra are "squeezing" the other ISP's. It has also been suggested that this problem is not experienced by Xtra users, however KOL aren't going to give me any advice that may lead to me reverting to Xtra.

456964 2006-05-22 22:46:00 Could be coz there's more people on it in the evening?

And it may depend on how good KOL's servers are. And whether they can cope with the amount of people, logging on at the same time.

456965 2006-05-23 07:49:00 I am experiencing the same speed problems all day from XTRA. and am in the Auckland area. Have checked everything and contacted xtra who were not that forthcoming with help.Maybe it is a ploy to get people to but Broadband JohnGodfrey (8163)
456966 2006-05-23 08:10:00 KOL is getting worse as time goes on..............i currently use this ISP, still not got round to changing to another isp.
It doesnt matter where you are in the country, KOL is losing speed, while on at peak times............and since its a cheap isp you get what you pay for.....

But in saying that i beleive that all isp are starting to struggle with the amount of people online at all times, speed etc whether that is on dial up or broadband.... they all supply something that costs more than it should, we dont seem to get value for money.

Some nights on KOL are worse than others.....weekends seem to be better sometimes.....
But yes maybe its to encourage people to turn to broadband.
